Travel Information

HEALTH: No innoculations are required but travelers are advised to take all health precautions as hospitals are few and far between. Malaria is endemic so anti-malaria pills are strongly recommended, as are injections against cholera, rabies, typhoid, polio and tetanus. Take your own medicines and mosquito repellent if traveling to remote areas.

VISA : Tourist visas can be obtained from Lao Embassies and Consulates, most conveniently in Bangkok or Phnom Penh. Ports of entry and exit must be specified and are difficult to change. Lao authorities require all travel to be aranged through registered travel companies in Lao P.D.R. Transit visas valid for seven days, and only for Vientiane prefecture, are offered to travelers with confirmed tickets enroute to or from Thailand, Vietnam or Myanmar.
